Always certain success was just around the corner, he met disappointment over and over. In 1977, he met Simon Brett, a radio personality. They decided to produce a sci-fi based comedy show for radio. This was the inception of the hitchhikers guide. It was his series of hysterically funny books, known as the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" that finally gained him a degree of fame.
