Though the Corsican Republic, Isle of Man, Pitcairn Island, and the Cook Islands all extended voting right to women before 1893, these were temporary privileges. When these countries succumbed to colonization, these voting rights were quickly rescinded. New Zealand bestowed on women the permanent right to vote, making them the first country to do so.
