Step 2 : Answer to the question "What state is home to Devils Tower National Monument? "

Wyoming - Devils Tower is a massive rock formation that looms over Wyoming’s Belle Fourche River Valley. The site used to be known as Bear Lodge — in the legends of Native Americans who lived on the northern plains, it was associated with bears, rather than evil spirits. The modern name may have come about from a bad translation. The tower stands 1,267 feet above the grassland and pine forest, with a base around 1,000 feet in diameter. It’s made of phonolite porphyry, and was formed through a process of erosion as surrounding softer rock was stripped away over the centuries. The tower’s distinctive columns are known as columnar jointing, and the formation is the largest example of columnar jointing in the world. President Theodore Roosevelt proclaimed the tower and the park around it as the first U.S. national monument in 1906; today, it’s especially popular with rock climbers.:
