In 2010, software engineer and computer scientist Stephen Von Worley set out to find what he termed the “McFarthest Spot” — the most distant place you can be from a McDonald’s restaurant in the contiguous United States. And with more than 13,000 locations (one for every 23,000 Americans), that wasn't an easy task. Eventually, he pinpointed a spot in the desert of northwest Nevada. While there isn’t much to see there, you’ll be about 135 miles away from the three closest McDonald’s locations, which are about equidistant in Klamath Falls, Oregon; Winnemucca, Nevada; and Hines, Oregon. That’s a long way to drive for a Big Mac and fries!:
