Situated in a remote stretch of the Sahara known as the Tenere Desert (which means “emptiness” in the local language) is a life-size drawing of two giraffes known as the Dabous giraffe. First discovered in 1987, the larger of the two is an impressive 18 feet tall and was created using elaborate techniques like scraping, smoothing, and deep engravings.
