...The second state admitted to the Union was also the birthplace of the Constitution of the United States. From May through September of 1787, the Founding Fathers met in the future Keystone State, where they decided how the future United States would be governed. The most well-known attendees from Pennsylvania were Benjamin Franklin, Gouverneur (first name, not title) Morris, Robert Morris, and James Wilson. A few months later, on December 12, 1787, some of these same men and other Pennsylvania delegates voted 46 to 23 to ratify the U.S. Constitution, making it the second state to do so.
