In the 1770s, he began producing a new type of English beer, porter, which differed from ale because of its darker color that results from brewing roasted barley. By the 20th century, Guinness was exclusively producing porters and had gained an international following, becoming one of the biggest beer brands in the world. Today, the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin is Ireland’s most visited tourist attraction. :
