Step 2 : Answer to the question "Where is the most recently formed island on Earth?"

Tonga - New islands often result from volcanic eruptions, and the world’s newest island on Tonga, in the South Pacific, is no exception. In 2014, the new island formed northwest of Tonga’s capital of Nuku’alofa after a massive eruption resulted in rock and ash piling enough to reach the surface of the sea. Located within the Pacific Ring of Fire, the large black mass stretches around 1.25 miles in length and a little over 0.5 miles wide, with a 300-foot mountain at the center. Although it unofficially goes by Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai, the island hasn’t been officially named just in case the piled volcanic rock returns to the ocean floor. However, Hunga Tonga has stuck around long enough to start seeing plants and wildlife take to it. According to the BBC, it’s one of just three islands in 150 years to have lasted for over a few months. In late 2019, another volcanic eruption formed an even newer island, Lateiki Island (or Metis Shoal), but by early 2020 it had disappeared, according to the Smithsonian Museum's Global Volcanism Program.:
