Step 2 : Answer to the question "Where is the oldest surviving bridge in the U.S.?"
Pennsylvania - The oldest surviving bridge in the United States goes by many names: the Frankford Avenue Bridge, the King’s Highway Bridge, the Holmesburg Bridge, the Pennypack Bridge, or the Pennypack Creek Bridge. Whatever you decide to call it, the stone-arch bridge was built in 1697 at the request of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, spanning 73 feet over the Creek of Pennypack in Holmesburg. The English nobleman wanted an easy route from his home to nearby Philadelphia, so the Philadelphia general assembly passed a bill to build bridges throughout the King’s Highway from Delaware Falls to the county of Sussex. The Frankford Avenue Bridge was particularly important, as it linked Philly to other important cities such as New York, Boston, and Trenton. It's also had some pretty important travelers cross it, from George Washington to John Adams. The bridge has undergone many renovations, the most recent of which was in 2018, which have allowed it to remain in service to this day.:
