[Answer] Which religious group of people celebrate the eight-day-long Festival of Lights known as "Hanukkah"?

Step 1 : Introduction to the question " Which religious group of people celebrate the eight-day-long Festival of Lights known as "Hanukkah"? "

...

In late November and December (depending on the year), millions of Jewish people around the world celebrate the eight-day-long Festival of Lights known as "Hanukkah" (English translation: 'Establishing' or 'Dedication'). The word "Hanukkah" is a reference to the historical moment at the heart of the holiday, the rededication of the Second Temple of Jerusalem during the Maccabean Revolt in the 2nd century BCE (a Jewish uprising in Judea against the repression of the Seleucid Empire). The Hellenistic Seleucid Empire was forcibly oppressing the Jewish population by trying to eradicate their religious practices.

The eight candles on a hanukkiyah (a special type of menorah) commemorate the moment when Jews relit the temple's ner tamid (Hebrew for "eternal light"), a lamp meant to burn perpetually in a synagogue. Although they had only one day's worth of oil, the flame miraculously burned for eight days- enough time to get more purified oil to feed the flame.

Other Hanukkah festivities include singing Hanukkah songs, playing the game of dreidel (a four-sided spinning top game) and eating oil-based and dairy foods. Nevertheless, Hanukkah has attained major cultural significance in North America and elsewhere, specially among secular Jews, due to often occurring around the same time as Chrstmas during the festive season.
