Now there was a little Israelite girl who had been kidnapped to be a slave in Naaman’s household. The little girl’s faith was strong. She knew that God could cure Naaman’s leprosy and suggested that he go to the prophet Elisha. Naaman did so, but instead of meeting with him, Elisha sent a messenger to tell him to wash in the Jordan river seven times. Naaman was furious. He had expected something fantastic, perhaps a little magic. Bathing in the river seemed ridiculous, especially since they had their own rivers at home. Nonetheless, Naaman dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, and according to the word of the man of God, his flesh was restored and he was free from leprosy! In front of all his company, Naaman declared, “There is no God in all the earth but this one, true God!”:
