Step 2 : Answer to the question "How did the paralyzed man’s friends bring him through the crowds to Jesus?"

They lowered him through the roof. - The friends in this story went above and beyond. Literally above! Jesus was teaching in the middle of a crowd who had come from every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. Jesus was healing people and a group of men were desperately trying to bring their paralyzed friend to him. The friends couldn’t find space to fight their way through the crowds because they had to carry their friend. So they cleverly went up onto the roof of the house where Jesus was teaching and removed some ceiling tiles. They carefully lowered his bed down through the hole in the roof, into the midst of the crowd and right in front of Jesus. Then Jesus said something surprising. Instead of addressing the man’s obvious physical need, he addressed their faith. He said, “Your sins are forgiven.” Of course, this made the scribes and Pharisees hot. “Blasphemy!” they accused. “Only God can forgive sins.” Jesus agreed with them. “Which is easier to say,” he asked. “‘Your sins are forgiven you’ or ‘Rise up and walk’?” Jesus proved that the Son of Man had authority on earth to forgive sins by healing the paralyzed man. Jesus said, “Rise, pick up your bed, and go home.” And the man immediately did so, glorifying God.:
