Step 1 : Introduction to the question "What is the Black Death?"
...On a cold October day in 1347, twelve Genevan ships entered the Sicilian harbor, the sailors on the ships were all dead or nearly dead. The ships were ordered away from the harbor but it was already too late. The plague named the black death from the black boils that would appear on the victims, would take over 70 million lives...Creepy right? What's even creepier is that the plague could have been stopped had Pope Gregory IX not been so darn terrified of cats.
