Just after noon, bullets struck the president in the head and neck, and Kennedy was declared dead at 1 p.m.; the governor was shot in the back but eventually recovered. President Kennedy was laid to rest on November 25, 1963, while millions watched the televised funeral at Arlington National Cemetery.:
