Iceland - Ever year, the World Economic Forum compiles its Global Gender Gap Report, examining the countries of the world to determine where men and women have the most equal access to resources, opportunities, and income. The forum's criteria include such things as the percentage of men and women in the workforce, educational and economic opportunities, political empowerment, and health care availability. For the 10th year in a row, they found that Iceland is the country that offers the most equal access between men and women. In general, the Nordic and Scandinavian countries enjoy a higher degree of gender equality, but Iceland exceeds them all. What may be surprising is that some developing countries, specifically Nicaragua and Rwanda, placed in the Top 10, but major world powers like the United States and the United Kingdom did not.:
