Step 2 : Answer to the question "When he met King Abimelech, Abraham pretended that Sarah was what?"
His sister - We are family! I got all my sisters with me! This was the song Abraham sang as he and his wife entered King Abimelech’s territory and he introduced his wife, Sarah, as his sister. It wasn’t the first time that Abraham had pulled this stunt. He did the same thing in Egypt, in an effort to protect himself from being killed so that someone could have his wife. Instead of trusting God for protection, Abraham took it into his own hands. In the story with Abimelech, the king does indeed take Sarah to be part of his harem. Here the Lord shows how He is in the business of protecting both Abraham AND Sarah. God comes to Abimelech in a dream and tells him that he is as good as dead for taking another man’s wife. Abimelech, who has not yet gone to Sarah, replies, “I’m innocent! She said that man was her brother! And besides, I haven’t done anything wrong yet.” God agrees. “Yes,” he says, “it was I who kept you from sinning against me in this way. Now return the man’s wife and he will pray for you so that you may live.” God protected Abraham’s life, Sarah’s virtue, and the promise that Abraham and Sarah’s seed would be the beginning of the nation of Israel.:
