Step 2 : Answer to the question "Where was the Internet first online?"
Los Angeles - In the 1960s, a small and modest lab at UCLA in California launched an invention that would change the world: the Internet. The development of the Internet, as we know it today, was not a single-person endeavor. In fact, as early as the turn of the 20th century, Nikola Tesla conceived a futuristic idea of a “world wireless system.” The practical building blocks came later with the U.S. Department of Defense-funded “ARPANET” (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network). This system allowed communication between multiple computers through a single network. The very first host-to-host message was sent by UCLA grad student Charley Kline in October 1969. Kline typed in “lo” for “login,” but the system crashed before he could complete the message. Those two letters, however, were delivered to another computer at Stanford. The UCLA lab room from which the Internet was born has since been restored to its original appearance, and can be visited on a tour of the university’s engineering school.:
