Step 2 : Answer to the question "Who was Joshua's father?"

Nun - Throughout the Israelite’s time in the wilderness, Joshua was one of Moses’ top men. Joshua is usually identified by the phrase “Joshua, son of Nun,” with that descriptor functioning as his last name. After Moses’ death, Joshua became the Israelites' leader as they entered the long awaited Promised Land. Joshua had been carefully prepared by God for this crucial role. All throughout the time of wandering, Joshua had been privy to the many ways God provided for his people. He saw God feeding his people physically and spiritually. Joshua fought on the battlefield while God led them to victory. Joshua had the unique opportunity to accompany Moses up to the mountain and wait while God spoke to Moses and wrote the commandments on the stone tablets. From the very beginning, Joshua learned the value of prayer and dependence on the Lord. So when Joshua took command and God said to him, “Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you,” Joshua knew exactly what that meant. He was confident in the strength of God’s promise: “I will not leave you or forsake you… Do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:5,9).:
