Step 2 : Answer to the question "What are the names of the lion statues outside the New York Public Library?"

Patience and Fortitude - Enter the New York Public Library at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street, and you'll be greeted by a pair of majestic marble lions perched on either side of the steps. These lions, known to city dwellers as Patience and Fortitude, have been with library since 1911, when the building was first dedicated. They were modeled by sculptor Edward Clark Potter and then carved by the Piccirilli Brothers, who also chiseled the marble for Daniel Chester French's sculpture of Abraham Lincoln at the Lincoln Memorial. In the early years of their reign over the library steps, the lions were nicknamed Leo Astor and Leo Lenox, after John Jacob Astor and James Lenox, the founders of the library. At another point, although they are both male lions, they were known as Lady Astor and Lord Lenox. They finally received their current, permanent names in the 1930s, when then-Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia decided to call them Patience and Fortitude — two qualities he believed New Yorkers needed to survive the Great Depression. Today the lions are the official mascots of the New York Public Library, and after a $250,000 renovation in 2019, they're looking better than ever.:
