It took nearly 10 years for them to extricate the fossil and nearly three decades for them to analyze it. In 2019, scientists were finally able to take accurate and detailed measurements — a whopping 42 feet long and weighing 19,500 pounds — making it officially the largest T. rex fossil ever discovered and the largest dinosaur ever found in Canada. Researchers named the fossil Scotty, after the bottle of scotch they shared the night they discovered him. Scotty roamed the Earth an estimated 66 million years ago — not only is he the largest T. rex discovered, but also the oldest.:
