Step 2 : Answer to the question "Bourbon Island is the former name of what place? "

Réunion Island - Located about 460 miles east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, Réunion Island is an overseas department of France that’s part of the Mascarene archipelago. The mountainous island has gone by a variety of names over the years: Arab sailors called it Dina Morgabin ("Western Island”), and the Portuguese named it Santa Apollonia in the 16th century. When French settlers took over the island in 1642, it was called Mascarin. King Louis XIV of France officially claimed the island in 1649 and renamed it Île Bourbon (Bourbon Island), after Colbert Bourbon, founder of the French East India Company. In 1848, after France’s Second Republic was proclaimed, the island became La Réunion, the name it still goes by today. Residents of Réunion — now primarily known for its sugar, rum, and tourism — are called Réunionnais.:
