At first Schindler was only in the money making potential of the business. Later he began shielding his workers without regard for the cost. He had to give Nazi officials large bribes & gifts to keep his workers safe.

By the people whose lives he had saved during the war, he was named Righteous Among the Nations by the Israeli govt. in 1963. After his death in 1974 he was buried in Jerusalem on Mount Zion.
