Tortoises mating - We can only imagine what dinosaurs once sounded like, but in “Jurassic Park” (1993), the velociraptor’s screech is actually the sound of tortoises mating. According to the film’s sound designer, Gary Rydstrom, he recorded the mating tortoises at Marine World. There are several other raptor noises that were borrowed from other animals, such as geese, whose sounds are used whenever the raptor makes a hissing noise, and horses when the raptor is breathing against the kitchen window. And it’s not only the velociraptors that borrow sounds from other species. A whole zoo of animal noises were used for the other dinosaurs as well.:
