Step 1 : Introduction to the question "Which Jewish council leader came to Jesus at night to ask him questions?"
...Throughout the New Testament, the Jewish leaders showed doubt and outright hatred toward Jesus and his teachings. But one leader, Nicodemus, sought him out in the dead of night to ask him questions. Nicodemus recognized Jesus as a teacher, and expressed his belief that “no one can do these signs ... unless God is with him” (John 3:2). Jesus then stated some of the most powerful and recognizable verses in the Bible regarding the path to salvation, saying, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). As Nicodemus was a member of the Jewish Sanhedrin, his nightly meeting with Jesus has often been read as a secret meeting, to hide his affiliation with Jesus from others on the council. Nicodemus is later seen defending Jesus before the Sanhedrin as they condemn him to death. Following Jesus' crucifixion, Nicodemus joined Joseph of Arimathea and helped prepare Christ’s body for burial with spices.
