New York, New York - The New York World’s Fair in 1964 featured 650 acres of pavilions and displays at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens. When these structures were built, the designers wanted to embody the architectural essence of Space Age futurism. They were supposed to be torn down within 90 days of the end of the event. However, the New York State Pavilion and its observation towers were deemed too expensive to tear down. The “Tent of Tomorrow” was briefly a roller skating rink in the 1970s before the roof became unstable. Restoration of these ruins is currently underway as of 2021.:
