[Answer] In Ezra 3, who wept when they saw the foundation for the new Temple laid?

Step 1 : Introduction to the question "In Ezra 3, who wept when they saw the foundation for the new Temple laid?"

...After the foundation was laid for the new Temple, the old men and the young men who helped build it had very different reactions. The young men, who were born while Israel was in captivity, never saw the grandeur and glory of Solomon's Temple. They celebrated and cheered when the foundation was laid, as they prepared to build a home worthy of God. The old men, however, including the priests and religious leaders who would have worked in Solomon’s Temple, cried as they looked at the structure before them. Their sadness was understandable, but God always has a plan. Through Haggai 2:9, he said, "The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, declares the Lord of hosts." The peace this passage points toward is Jesus. Even as we weep, we can rejoice because of Jesus; we have been given an everlasting peace that no one can destroy.
