Step 2 : Answer to the question "Where did the game Yahtzee get its name?"

How can I play Yahtzee?

While you may think you need to buy a Yahtzee set from the toy store to play the game, all you need is five dice and a Yahtzee score card, which you can easily print from the Internet. If you don’t have either available, you can also play Yahtzee on sites like Solitaired, where you can play against the computer or other players.

It was originally played on the creators' yacht - Yahtzee was invented in Canada in 1954, and its odd name traces back to its creators. The game was the brainchild of a wealthy couple who enjoyed playing it with their friends on their yacht. In fact, the game was originally called "The Yacht Game." It was a big hit among the inventors' friends and soon the creators began to think about putting it on the market. A few of years later, they teamed up with a wealthy businessman named Edwin S. Lowe, who had already made it big selling Bingo sets in the 1920s. Lowe bought the idea from its inventors and began producing copies for sale. Lowe changed the name to "Yahtzee," which kept a nonsensical trace of the game's old name. Lowe didn't have a hit on his hands right away, but the game eventually took off thanks to word-of-mouth marketing and "Yahtzee parties," which introduced would-be fans and customers to the somewhat complicated new game. Now produced by Hasbro, Yahtzee games sell 50 million copies a year.:
