At first, it was just something he did in his workshop during his spare time, but then the castles started to take over the space. Beinert worked with the city to begin installing them around town. Today, 40 miniature castles dot the town alongside the 3,000 residents. The majority of the sculptures are replicas of castles he saw in albums about Germany's history.:
