Step 2 : Answer to the question "Which state celebrates Seward’s Day on March 30?"

Alaska - On March 30, 1867, U.S. Secretary of State William H. Seward signed a treaty with Russia to acquire Alaska at a cost of $7 million. However, Seward had some trouble convincing the U.S. Senate to ratify the treaty. The Alaskan purchase was called “Seward’s Folly,” “Seward’s Icebox,” and President Andrew Johnson’s “Polar Bear Garden.” But despite its outspoken opponents, the Senate did approve the Alaska Purchase on April 9, 1867, and it massively expanded the country’s land area — Alaska’s size was roughly equivalent to one-fifth the size of the rest of the country.
