Originally, the pull-string toy was supposed to be a ventriloquist dummy. Thanks to Oscar-nominated animator, Bud Luckey, the dummy was changed to the famous cowboy doll. He went on to sketch 200 different Woodies, including the one we know so well in the film. It’s safe to say that Disney made the right choice. Imagine the nightmares kids would have had if the ventriloquist was used instead!:
