Jerome Robbins - Jerome Robbins’ win for “West Side Story” (1961) was not only unique in that it was the only movie he ever directed, but also that it was the first directing Oscar awarded to collaborating directors. Robbins shared his directorial win with Robert Wise who, unlike his co-director, would continue a long and illustrious directorial career. In fact, Wise went on to win another Best Director Academy Award for "The Sound of Music” (1965). Robbins was also given a special Oscar by the Academy for “choreographic achievements on film.” His choreography was legendary, and he orchestrated dozens of stage productions, including “The King and I” (1956), “Fiddler on the Roof” (1971), “Peter Pan” (1954), and many more.:
