Fairbanks House, Massachusetts - For nearly four centuries, the Fairbanks House has stood on its original spot in Dedham, Massachusetts, making it the oldest timber-frame structure in the U.S. Built between 1637 and 1641 by the Fairbanks family of Yorkshire, England, Fairbanks House was originally a family home for Jonathan and Grace Fairbanks and their six children. They expanded the house over the years, with a workshop and two wings added on to accommodate the whole family. The steadfast home served eight generations of Fairbanks for more than 260 years, and is now a museum that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.:
