[Answer] The first vaccine was invented to treat what disease?

Step 1 : Introduction to the question "The first vaccine was invented to treat what disease?"

The science wasn’t well understood, but it was commonly known that a person who had smallpox once would not be infected again. He took fluids from a milkmaid infected with cowpox, and infected a boy with the disease. The boy was later found to be immune to smallpox. Jenner’s work is commonly accepted to be the foundation of modern immunology.
