Step 2 : Answer to the question "Which state has the oldest continuously operated lighthouse on the Great Lakes?"

Ohio - Marblehead Lighthouse, located along the banks of Lake Erie, was first lit in 1822 and has been in continuous operation ever since. The lighthouse is located in a town of the same name about halfway between Cleveland and Toledo. The original tower was 15 feet shorter than the one standing today, until it was expanded in 1898. By the 1980s, however, there were plans to tear down the lighthouse. Local residents banded together to create the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society in 1998 and a new state park surrounding the structure. The state park now attracts an estimated 1 million visitors each year, with about 25,000 of them climbing to the top of the tower. The Marblehead Lighthouse is now one of Ohio’s most photographed landmarks. :
