Barnum called the cog the “Second Greatest Show on Earth.” Driven by steam, the “Railway to the Moon” continues to climb 6,288 feet, traveling a mere three miles per hour. It traverses the world’s steepest and highest railroad trestle, known as Jacob’s Ladder, at 4,725 feet. The steep grade requires passengers to lean forward to help balance the railway at times. In 2019, The cog celebrated its 150th birthday!:
