If you want to hit that extreme point, you'll need to visit Big Diomede, part of an archipelago called the Diomede Islands. As the name suggests, it's the biggest of the bunch, but it still only covers an area of about 11 square miles. Just how far east is it? Big Diomede is a mere 2.5 miles from Little Diomede, which actually falls under U.S. territory and is on the opposite side of the International Date Line. (That gives the two islands the nicknames “Tomorrow Island” and “Yesterday Island.”):
