The fast food location used to be a car dealership called the Aeroplane Car Company, whose owner installed a decommissioned DC-3 plane as a bit of an added attraction. (In a former life, the plane had carried passengers for South Pacific Airlines.) When the site became a McDonald’s in 1990, the franchise owners decided to keep the plane — although they gave it a fresh, McDonald’s-friendly paint job. The actual McDonald’s where the food is ordered and prepared is located next door, but the plane is open certain hours as a memorable 20-seat dining room.:
