[Answer] Where did the Emmy Award get its name?

Step 1 : Introduction to the question "Where did the Emmy Award get its name?"

...When coming up with the name of the award, Academy founder Syd Cassyd first suggested "Ike," the nickname for the television iconoscope tube. Academy members thought it too reminiscent of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, whose nickname was “Ike,” so it was nixed. Harry Lubcke, a television engineer who would go on to become the third Academy president, suggested “Immy” after the orthicon camera, a camera tube that was invented in 1945. The name was later modified to “Emmy” to match the statuette's female figure. Each trophy weighs 6 pounds, 12 ounces and is made of copper, nickel, silver, and gold.
