Vatican City - Every nation has its extreme high and low points, but for some countries, those points are not all that, well, extreme. A country like Italy reaches from its lowest points near the sea to stunning highs atop mountain peaks. The Netherlands' low points are particularly low — much of the Netherlands is below sea level, after all — but the country's does have a few areas that reach 1,000 feet above sea level. Highest and lowest points get a lot less interesting when we start looking at very small countries like the Vatican, which is simply too small to have much variation to its topography. And since the Vatican is not up in the mountains, it should be no surprise that its highest point is not particularly impressive. In fact, the Vatican's extreme high-altitude point, Vatican Hill, is the lowest such point among European countries at just 250 feet above sea level.:
