Step 2 : Answer to the question "Which Balkan country has just 12 miles of coastline?"

Bosnia and Herzegovina - If you’re ambitious, you could walk the entire coast of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a single day. The Balkan country has just 12 miles of coastline touching the Adriatic Sea, making it the second shortest coastline in the world after Monaco. Meanwhile, neighboring Croatia has almost 4,000 miles of coastline. Croatia’s famous medieval walled city of Dubrovnik along the coast, however, is separated from the rest of the country by Neum, the beach resort town on the sliver of coastline that belongs to Bosnia. In the Great Turkish War of the late 17th century, the city-state of Dubrovnik wanted to protect itself from Venetian attacks, so they gave this land to the north to the Ottoman Empire, where it remained part of the Ottoman-ruled province of Bosnia and Herzegovina. To avoid the hassle of border crossings, Croatia is planning construction of a bridge to bypass Bosnia altogether, which would be the second longest bridge in Europe.:
