Among them was a top-secret bunker hidden 720 feet beneath the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Fortunately, it never served its purpose as a nuclear fallout shelter for Congress members, but it did remain a secret for more than thirty years. Its existence was revealed in a 1992 Washington Post story, ever since, the former bunker has been open to the public.:
