Mississippi - On December 5, 1933, Prohibition was repealed with the passage of the 21st Amendment. Approval was needed from 36 states and Utah came in at the last minute as the 36th state. Although liquor quickly began flowing, it did so only in 18 states. Many states, including Utah and others that had voted to repeal Prohibition, remained dry for many years. The final state to repeal its Prohibition laws was Mississippi. It remained dry until 1966, but not until 2020 did the state's governor sign a bill allowing the possession of alcohol in every county.:
