Over the years, the Omni Parker House has served its famous dessert to such well-known figures as John F. Kennedy and Emeril Lagasse. Despite its name, Boston Cream Pie is not a pie, but rather a two-layered cake with pastry cream between each layer. The misnomer comes from the lack of distinction between pie and cake at the time the dessert was created. However, the name stuck, and it’s now considered a true American classic.:
