...1. Christie 2. Dana 3. Norman Greenbaum 4. England World Cup Squad Norman Greenbaum's song is still well known and often covered by other artists but "Spirit in the Sky" stayed a lonely hit. Dana had after her 1970 first hit "All Kind of Everything" another one with "Who put the light out" in 1971 and some more to follow. Dana tried for the Irish presidency in 1997. The England World Cup Squad (that is the soccer team for the world cup) had the song "Back home" twice in the charts in the same year. The fist time before the world cup, the second time when they came back from Mexico -place of the world cup of that year - after being knocked out in the quarter final. The single kicked only up to number 46 the second time around. They made a number 2 in 1982 - "This Time (We'll Get it Right)"/"England, We'll Fly the Flag" and a number one again in 1990 with "World in Motion". Better in the charts than on the grass! Christie did ride from his 1970 number one hit "Yellow River" to "San Bernadino" (1970, number 7) on an "Iron Horse" (1972, number 47) and wasn't seen again in the charts.
