...Experts estimate from 2 to 8 percent of the general adult population in America suffer from this disorder. Oniomania is compulsive buying. Of those affected, about 90 percent are female. It generally begins in the late teens to early twenties and tends to be chronic. Those suffering oniomania also frequently suffer with mood disorders, anxiety, substance use, eating disorders and other personality disorders.
