Their friendship becomes strained when Messala becomes a Roman Centurion and Ben-Hur is falsely arrested and sent as a slave to a galley ship. Later, as time passes, Messala mocks Ben-Hur with this taunt just before their grandiose chariot race. After the race Ben-Hur is reunited with his leprous mother and sister who receive a miraculous cure. I enjoy this movie much more than the 1959 "Ben-Hur". Lew Wallace wrote the novel.
