Step 1 : Introduction to the question "Which Old Testament woman defeated the Canaan general Sisera in his sleep? "
...The Canaanites were one of the most feared and impenetrable enemies of God. During the time of the judges, as the people fell again into rebellion, the Lord raised up Jabin king of Canaan to oppress them. Jabin's army was led by an incredibly cruel and powerful man named Sisera. Not only were the Israelites outmanned, but they were also out-gunned. Sisera used the latest technology to amass iron chariots, nearly a thousand of them. The armies of God cowered in fear, and there was no man to lead them. So God raised up a woman. Two women actually. The prophetess Deborah became judge and instructed the army to attack Sisera's army. During the battle, God's people prevailed, but Sisera managed to escape the battle and fled on foot. He stumbled onto the land of one of his king's allies, Heber the Kenite, whose wife Jael shrewdly invited him to shelter in her tent. She wrapped him in a rug as he collapsed in exhaustion. Then when he had fallen asleep, Jael took a hammer and drove a tent peg into his temple through to the ground, killing him.
