[Answer] What dictates the sex of a sea turtle?

Step 1 : Introduction to the question "What dictates the sex of a sea turtle?"

...1. Time of conception 2. Mother’s diet 3. Sand consistency 4. Incubation temperature

Step 2 : Answer to the question "What dictates the sex of a sea turtle?"

Incubation temperature - Turtles don’t need gender-reveal parties to confirm the sex of their offspring — all curious parties need to do is measure the heat of the sand. If a turtle’s eggs incubate below 81.86 degrees Fahrenheit, the hatchlings will be male. Eggs incubated above 87.8 degrees Fahrenheit will result in female turtles. This temperature-dependent sex process is rare in the animal kingdom; the gender in most species, including humans, is determined during fertilization. But turtles, alligators, iguanas, and crocodiles are among the few species to share this heated gender trait.   The future is female: At least, that’s likely the case in the turtle world. When sand is hot, the ratio of female turtles increases. Scientists believe climate change and the correlated higher sand temperatures may result in more female offspring — and in fact, they’re already seeing this across many tropical locales. In 2018, the Pacific Ocean’s largest green sea turtle rookery reported a shocking 116 females for every one male — a figure much higher than decades prior. Popular nesting spot Raine Island, a coral cay along the Great Barrier Reef, has also seen almost exclusively female turtles over the past 20 years. Worldwide, experts believe the female-to-male ratio is currently three to one, but that may change as our planet’s temperatures rise. :
