Step 2 : Answer to the question "Which song was written exclusively for the film adaptation of "Guys and Dolls" (1955)?"
“Adelaide” - Unaccustomed as he was to getting married, Nathan Detroit finally named the day with Adelaide in Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s musical adaptation of the stage musical, “Guys and Dolls.” As Frank Sinatra played the gambling “no-goodnik” who asks his pals “Where’s the action?” and “Where’s the game?” in the film, it was only natural that the crooner was given a few more songs to sing than his onstage counterpart. In addition to the ordained “Sue Me” and “The Oldest Established” from the show, Sinatra joined his onscreen henchmen Nicely-Nicely Johnson and Benny Southstreet in the “Guys and Dolls” number in the film. He also performed a standout serenade for his fiancĂ©e of 14 years Adelaide in the aptly-titled, “Adelaide.” Aside from Sinatra’s songs, “Pet Me Poppa” and “A Woman in Love” were also added to the film adaptation. In conversation with Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz, guest curator for TCM’s “The Essentials” Brad Bird praised the musicals songs as “really infectious. They’re in the lingo of Damon Runyon, who wrote the original stories, which to me is just one of a kind and really funny — and really smart — dialogue.”:
