The Central Branch of the library features a parking garage covered in rows of 25-foot-tall books — some of which stretch as much as nine feet wide. The idea for the “community bookshelf” came from local residents when city leaders asked for ideas on how to make the new downtown parking structure more attractive. Community members and library patrons also voted on the titles of the 22 books displayed, which contain mostly classics like Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451” and J.R.R.
